UEFA Women’s Champions League 2020 victory with Olympique Lyonnais Feminine

We participated in the Champions League 2020 final tournament in Spain with the Olympique Lyonnais Feminine, starting 22.8.2020. We played three tough matches in the tournament, using the method of “the winner continues towards the final”.

In the quarter-finals, we first faced my former club FC Bayern Munich from Germany. It was exciting to meet old familiar players from my time in Munich. I also met other members of my old club I knew. We won the tight match with goals 2-1. That’s how we got into the top four.

Next we encountered Lyon’s beloved enemy, PSG from Paris, in the semi-finals. We already won them once in August in the final of French Cup. We knew there was going to be a very tough and emotional match. We finally managed to win narrowly 1-0. Thanks to the victory, we reached the finals. Although OLF had won the Champions League four times in a row, for me and many others on our team, the time was, of course, the first.

In the final at 30.8.2020, we met German league champion Wolfsburg. Lyon had faced the Wolfsburg in a similar final before. Our team played their best game in the tournament. We finally managed to win 3-1. At the end of the game, the atmosphere was amazing. We got to lift into the air the trophy of the winner, valued by all who follow football. There are a lot of experienced players on the team, but also many young players like me. We took all the joy out of our victory. Our team has had a great spirit all this time, everyone encourages each other. We flew back to France the same night. The celebration and congratulations then continued in France.

We held our first preseason camp in Tignes, in the Alps, in June 2020. At this camp we restored our condition after a long break. At the same time, the camp prepared us for the important matches of late summer. Of course, there was also all sorts of fun things to do between the exercises.

Private pre-preseason & holiday

Because the French league season ended earlier than planned, I had plenty of time to train at home from April to June 2020 before the start of my second OLF season, and if the current season somehow would continue. In addition to vacationing, I actively used my time. Thanks to Peurunka Sport & Spa Center for the opportunity to use their outdoor fitness facilities in real Finnish pure nature. Among other things, I participated in a Girls’ Football Day in March 2020 in the city of Kauniainen sharing my goalkeeping skills for junior players. I also visited in middle of Finland to encourage young athletics to tain. Here is my video greetings to Team LKP’s Juniors and especially for all football players.
